to begin laying out your song. This chapter will demonstrate how to work with tempo
and pitch while time stretching audio files and apple loops to keep pace with your
song. Youll also lea some interesting techniques for changing the look of your
arrange window, including using custom colors for Tracks and Regions, as well as
creating your own custom Track icons.
Chapters 3 and 4 get into the nitty gritty of editing MIDI and Audio regions. While
these chapters are designed to provide basic information youll build upon later in
the program, so advanced features including Step Recording MIDI data and creating
Folders to group regions are covered in these chapters.
Chapter 5 takes a close look at the process of bouncing, creating MP3 files, and using
key commands. Along the way, youll lea how to choose bit depths for compressed
files, and attach metadata such as band and track names that will show up when the
listener opens your songs in iTunes.
In Chapter 6, youll look closely at the process of recording in Logic. Youll lea
how to set record levels, how to do basic, punch, and replace recordings, and even
how to cycle record. I also cover multi take recording and Logic 8s new "Quick Swipe

however, is the large variety of robots that can be built. There
are detailed instructions for each one, and since these are LEGOs,
builders are free to come up with an endless variety.
No programming experience is necessary; LEGOs intuitive software
helps you along the way.
What makes MindStorms so great is that its simple to lea

functions. Robot construction is like putting together regular
LEGOs, everything snaps together. The instruction book lays out
step by step plans for seven robots.
The MindStorms system has been used to create alarm devices that

Acrobot a fast moving robot that flips and dances; and the

you in many other ways. All LEGO MINDSTORMS products work with LEGO
SYSTEM and LEGO TECHNIC sets.
The RCX Programmable Brick The heart of the MindStorms kit is the
RCX programmable brick. About the size of two decks of playing cards,
the RCX uses sensors to take input from its environment, process the
data, and signal up to three motors to tu on and off in forward or

microcontroller running at 16MHz. It has 16K of ROM, 512 bytes of
